CONNECTICUT HUT PERMITS
Connecticut council passed a charge compelling January 2023 that forces a interstate utilization charge (Hovel) on certain overwhelming, multi-unit engine vehicles on any thruway (i.e., open street) in the state.
CONNECTICUT HUT PERMITS WEIGHT INFORMATION
The Hovel is calculated based on a vehicle’s weight and the number of miles driven in the state. The charge builds up per-mile charge rates that increment based on vehicle net weight, extending from $0.025 per mile for vehicles weighing 26,000-28,000 lbs to $0.175 cents per mile for vehicles weighing more than 80,000 lbs.
CONNECTICUT HUT PERMITS CHARGES INFORMATION
The charge requires each carrier that has a net weight of twenty-six thousand pounds or more and carries a classification between Lesson 8 and Lesson 13, to apply to Office of Income Administrations (DRS) for a Hovel allow. It forbids carriers from working, or causing to be worked, any qualified engine vehicle in the state without a Cabin allow on or after 1 January 2023.
