Arizona Holiday Restrictions 2026

Holiday restrictions for over dimensional, commercial motor vehicles, apply when the following dimension are exceeded:

• 10 feet in width
• 14 feet 6 inches in height
• 10 feet in length of front overhang
• 10 feet in length of rear overhang
• 120 feet in overall vehicle length
• 250,000 pounds

Over dimensional vehicles exceeding the dimensions described above are required to shut down and not permitted to travel during the following holidays:

• New Year’s Day
• Memorial Day
• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving Day
• Christmas Day

When a holiday occurs on a Friday, transport shall stop at 12 noon on the preceding Thursday and may resume the following Monday at one-half hour before sunrise, or Monday at 3:00 a.m. if eligible for night transport.

1. When a holiday occurs on a Saturday, transport shall stop at 12 noon on the preceding Thursday and may resume the following Monday at one-half hour before sunrise, or Monday at 3:00 a.m. if eligible for night transport.
2. When a holiday occurs on a Sunday, transport shall stop at 12 noon on the preceding Friday and may resume the following Tuesday at one-half hour before sunrise, or Tuesday at 3:00 a.m. if eligible for night transport.
3. When a holiday occurs on a Monday, transport shall stop at 12 noon on the preceding Friday and may resume the following Tuesday at one-half hour before sunrise, or Tuesday at 3:00 a.m. if eligible for night transport.
4. When a holiday occurs on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, transport shall stop at 12 noon on the day before the holiday and may resume the day after the holiday at one-half hour before sunrise, or the day after the holiday at 3:00 a.m. if eligible for night transport.

California Holiday Restrictions 2026

Vehicles Prohibited from Travel: 

Vehicles traveling on a state highway under a transportation permit, only when required to be escorted by a pilot car, are prohibited from travel as detailed below. 

This prohibition shall apply to the following Holidays: 

• New Year's Day (January 1st) 
• Washington's Birthday (3rd Monday in February) 
• Memorial Day (Last Monday in May) 
• Independence Day (4th of July) 
• Labor Day (1st Monday in September) 
• Thanksgiving Day (4th Thursday in November) 
• Christmas Day (December 25th) 

Holiday Travel Restriction Rule: From 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM (midnight) the day before the Holiday and from 12:00 PM (noon) to 12:00 AM (midnight) on the Holiday or days of the Holiday weekend.

 Times when travel is allowed: Travel is authorized, subject to 24/7 Policy, from 12:00 AM (midnight) or sunrise to 12:00 PM (noon) during any of the prohibited days or times listed below. 

Examples of times when travel is prohibited: 

1. a) Three-day weekend with Friday Off: Travel is prohibited from 4:00 PM on the Thursday before the Holiday to 12:00 AM (midnight), Friday from 12:00 PM (noon) to 12:00 AM (midnight), Saturday from 12:00 PM (noon) to 12:00 AM (midnight), Sunday from 12:00 PM (noon) to 12:00 AM (midnight). 
2. b) Three-day weekend with Monday Off: Travel is prohibited from 4:00 PM on the Friday before the Holiday to 12:00 AM (midnight), Saturday from 12:00 PM (noon) to 12:00 AM (midnight), Sunday from 12:00 PM (noon) to 12:00 AM (midnight), Monday from 12:00 PM (noon) to 12:00 AM (midnight). 
3. c) Thanksgiving day Holiday: Travel is prohibited from 4:00 PM on the Wednesday before the Holiday to 12:00 AM (midnight), Thursday from 12:00 PM (noon) to 12:00 AM (midnight), Friday from 12:00 PM (noon) to 12:00 AM (midnight), Saturday from 12:00 PM (noon) to 12:00 AM (midnight), Sunday from 12:00 PM (noon) to 12:00 AM (midnight). 
4. d) Weekday Holiday: Travel is prohibited from 4:00 PM the day before the Holiday to 12:00 AM (midnight) and from 12:00 PM (noon) on the day of the Holiday to 12:00 AM (midnight).
5. e) Holiday is observed on Saturday or Sunday and neither Friday nor Monday is designated as a Non-working day: 24/7 Conditions shall apply.

Every year, CDOT embarks on hundreds of construction projects across the state, and that doesn't even include the numerous maintenance activities they conduct every day to keep the highways safe. With every construction zone comes equipment, workers, and daily changes in the road and alignment you may be traveling. As a result, it's critical you do your part to make the cone zones safe. Lower speed limits, flaggers and police enforcement are used to help keep work zones safe, but motorists still must drive responsibly to keep themselves and our workers safe.

Use these safe-driving tips when traveling through cone zones. Remember: In Colorado, the fines are doubled for most infractions in a work zone.

Expect the unexpected - Normal speed limits may be reduced, traffic lanes may be changed, and people may be working on or near the road.

Slow down - Speeding is one of the major causes of work zone crashes.

Don't tailgate - Keep a safe distance between your car and the car ahead of you. The most common crash in a highway work zone is a rear-end collision, so leave two car lengths between you and the car in front of you.

Be aware of constructions crews - Keep a safe distance between your vehicle, and the construction workers and their equipment.

Heed signs - The warning signs are there to help you and other drivers move safely through the work zone. Observe the posted signs until you see the one that says you've left the work zone.

Obey flaggers - Flaggers know what's best for moving traffic safely in the work zone. A flagger has the same authority as a regulatory sign; you can be cited for disobeying his or her directions.

Stay alert and minimize distractions - Dedicate your full attention to the roadway, and avoid changing radio stations or using cellphones while driving in a work zone.

Keep with the traffic flow - Help maintain traffic flow and posted speeds by merging as soon as possible. Don't drive right up to the lane closure and then try barge in.

Plan your drive - Schedule enough time to drive safely, and check radio, television and websites for traffic information. Expect delays, and leave early so you can reach your destination on time.

Be patient and stay calms - Work zones aren't there to personally inconvenience you. Remember: The work zone crew members are working to improve the road and make your future drive better.

Idaho Road Conditions And Closures

The Idaho Transporation Department’s policy is to plan, design, construct, maintain and operate safe and efficient Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) zones. Goals and objectives of the Idaho Transportation Department are to provide a safer environment for highway workers and the travelling public, work toward “zero deaths” in work zones, maintain or reduce project maximum travel delays stated in the construction contract, implement training programs for those involved in planning, designing, constructing, maintaining and providing Law Enforcement in work zones and managing incidents.

Don’t Be A Distracted Driver – To protect yourself, it’s important that you dedicate your full attention to the roadway while traveling in a construction zone.

Don’t Forget Special Penalties Apply – When you are in a construction zone, there is an additional $50 penalty for breaking the posted speed limit. Speeding in a construction zone is particularly dangerous since workers may be present just a few feet away from your vehicle. In addition, heavy work vehicles are unable to stop quickly. For example, a loaded 80,000 lb. tractor-trailer requires almost 50% more stopping distance than a standard passenger vehicle. Remember too that posted speed limits in construction zones assume that you are in perfect weather conditions. If the weather is poor, you may need to drive even slower. Keep your speed consistent with traffic flow and do not resume your normal driving speed until you see signs indicating that it is safe to do so.

Kansas Holiday Restrictions 2026

Moves are not routinely permitted 1/2 hour after sunset to 1/2 hour before sunrise, legal holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas) and weekends in July and August. except for equipment moving entirely within the seven northern counties.

Oversize loads may travel on the Maine Turnpike from ½ hour before sunrise until ½ hour after sunset (daylight hours). The total height is limited to 13’6” and total width is limited to 14’6”. For additional information, contact the Maine Turnpike Authority.

When it comes to safety on the road in Maine, the rules one should follow are the same like with other states in order to avoid crashes and fatal injuries. An average of 500 crashes occur each year in Maine work zones, resulting in several fatalities. Another 200 are injured. Workers in these areas are vulnerable to serious injury, as are vehicle occupants.

What can you do to keep Work Zones safe?

• Slow down – drive at the posted work zone speed.
• Pay attention.
• Merge as soon as safely possible when required.

Movement of loads in excess of 14′ is restricted to 8:30 am to 4: 30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Loads in excess of 16′ are rarely authorized on the Kansas Turnpike.

In any work zone along any road, normal speed limits may be reduced, traffic lanes may be changed, and people and vehicles may be working on or near the road.

Diamond-shaped orange warning signs are posted in advance of road construction projects. Slow down! Be alert! Pay attention to the signs!

A “flagger ahead” warning sign may be posted in the work zone. Be prepared to slow down, stop, change lanes, etc. Be prepared to obey the flagger’s directions.

When indicated, merge as soon as possible. Don’t zoom right up to the lane closure, then try to barge in.

Slow down when the signs say to. A car traveling 60 m.p.h. travels 88 feet per second. If you’re going 60 m.p.h., and you pass a sign that states, “Road Work 1,500 feet,” you’ll be in that work zone in 17 seconds.

The most common crash in a highway work zone is the rear-end collision, so remember to leave two seconds of braking distance between you and the car in front of you.

Keep a safe distance between your vehicle and traffic barriers, trucks, construction equipment and workers.

No movement is allowed on the following dates for loads exceeding 14’ 6” high, 80’ 0” long, and/or 10’ 0” wide in observation of the listed holidays in the State of Florida in accordance with F.A.C. 14-26 as follows: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If any of these holidays fall on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall also be observed as a holiday. If any of these holidays fall on a Sunday, the following Monday shall also be observed as a holiday.

No movement in Hillsboro and Date Counties from 7:00 am – 9:00 am and 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Other restrictions may be imposed on the permit.

Florida Road Conditions

Drivers must slow down or move over for stopped emergency vehicles and work zones. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles says that drivers breaking that law have caused more than 200 crashes every year.

Florida’s ‘Move Over’ law requires drivers to slow down 20 miles per hour below the posted speed limit or move over a lane for emergency and utility vehicles. The crew members just want to get the job done safe and sound.

Regulatory speed signs in rural areas (interstate and non-interstate) are to be preceded by a “Reduced Speed Ahead” sign positioned as follows: Interstate (Rural) – 1000 ft. in advance; Non-Interstate (Rural) – 500 ft. in advance. Urban areas ordinarily do not require an advance sign, however, the sign may be included at the designer’s option.

An oversize permit shall not be valid for the operation of a vehicle or combination of vehicles on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day and the Friday before Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and the Friday before Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, the operation shall not be permitted on the following Monday. If the holiday falls on a Saturday, the operation shall not be permitted on the preceding Friday. Waivers to these restriction may be granted.

An oversize permit shall not be valid for the operation of a vehicle or combination of vehicles: during the nighttime hours of sunset to sunrise; when visibility is limited to a distance of less than 500 feet during the daylight hours of sunrise to sunset; and when hazardous road conditions exist.

A “Permissible Hauling Day” is any normal working day, Monday through Friday, during the daylight hours between one-half hour before sunrise and one-half hour after sunset when weather conditions are favorable. No movements are allowed on Saturdays*, Sundays or the following holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day or after 12 noon the day preceding Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. The day preceding means any normal working day, Monday through Fridays. No travel is allowed at night between the hours of one-half hour after sunset and one-half hour before sunrise unless otherwise specified.

 *Over-dimensional and overweight moves that are within 12 feet in width, 85 feet in length, legal height, and which can maintain normal highway speeds may be authorized by permit to move from ½ hour before sunrise until 12 noon on Saturday unless such Saturday falls on a holiday set forth above. Overweight moves that are not over-dimensional and are within 125 percent of legal weight as defined by Section 385 of the new York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, and which can maintain traffic flow speed, are not restricted as to times of travel or days of travel as set forth above.

North Dakota Holiday Restrictions 2026

Permitted movements not exceeding 16 feet in width may travel on any day from
½ hour before sunrise to ½ hour after sunset.

Permitted movements that are over-height and/or over-length only may travel on any day from
½ hour before sunrise to ½ hour after sunset.

Permitted movements that are 12 feet wide or less, 120 feet long or less, or overweight only
may travel on any day or night with proper lighting.

Due to increased traffic on Ohio highways during holiday periods, the movement of
oversize (overdimension) and overdimension/overweight vehicles and loads is restricted.
Overweight-only vehicles and loads may travel during holiday periods with a valid Special Hauling Permit unless otherwise stated on the permit.

Vermont Holiday Restrictions 2026

On state highways, unless otherwise stated, permits will not be issued for the movement of loads in excess of one hundred eight thousand (108,000) pounds, or over twelve feet (12’0”) wide or over one hundred feet (100’) long on any Saturday, Sunday, or on the following legal holidays as observed in the State of Vermont:

• The Charleston restriction area includes I-64 (Exit 39–85), I-77 (Exit 85–106), US-119 from Ruth to I-64, and routes within five miles of Charleston city limits.

Vehicle /load dimensions exceeding the above may not be operated (1) during hours of darkness, (2) between 4 pm and 8 pm on Fridays 4th Friday in May and Labor Day, (3) noon Saturday to sunrise Sunday, and (4) 4 pm and 8 pm on Sunday. Other restrictions apply to Milwaukee County Expressway.

Movement of any oversize load shall be made only during daylight hours, except for the following: (1) a permitted combination unit that does not exceed 110′. (2) a single unit that does not exceed 75′, (3) a load not exceeding 10′ wide on Interstate highways only, and (4) escorted vehicle/loads , more than 10′ wide on interstates; more that 8,5′ on primary or secondary roads. Additional restrictions apply to vehicle/loads in excess of 18′.

Permits are issued for daylight hours only (1/2 hour before sunrise and 1/2 hour after sunset, Monday through Friday. Permits shall not be issued for movement from 12:00 noon on the day preceding and continuing until daylight of the first day after the following holidays: New Year’s, Day Labor Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving Day, Independence Day, Christmas Day. Weekend movement is permitted for loads not exceeding 10′ in width, 14′ high, and 90′ long. This allowance is similar to other bordering state’s provisions and allows weekend movement all day on Saturday, and until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Mobile/modular homes are not eligible for weekend movement.
